- 1990s: Elder Earl C. Tingey registers the Church in Burundi
- 1993: Four African missionaries sent to serve in the Bujumbura Branch
- 1993: Missionaries removed from Burundi
- 2000: Bujumbura Branch discontinued
- 2003: Burundi becomes part of Africa Southeast Area
- 2010: Six full-time missionaries and two senior couple missionaries are assigned to
re-establish Bujumbura Branch
- 2010: Elder Jeffrey R. Holland dedicates Burundi for missionary work
- 2011: Bujumbura Branch organized
