HISTORY OF THE CHURCH IN BURUNDI

  • 1980s: First Church members in Burundi
  • 1990s: Elder Earl C. Tingey registers the Church in Burundi
  • 1993: Four African missionaries sent to serve in the Bujumbura Branch
  • 1993: Missionaries removed from Burundi
  • 2000: Bujumbura Branch discontinued    
  • 2003: Burundi becomes part of Africa Southeast Area
  • 2010: Six full-time missionaries and two senior couple missionaries are assigned to

           re-establish Bujumbura Branch

  • 2010: Elder Jeffrey R. Holland dedicates Burundi for missionary work
  • 2011: Bujumbura Branch organized
  • 2014: Three branches created
